Developer's Diary: September Update & Unit Cards

Image
Update update UPDATE! Welcome back all you cool individuals that take a moment out of your day to check out what we got cooking over here with Project Hexed! As I have said before, these blog posts come at very sporadic times and with no real schedule to them… As much as I would like to keep you informed on a regular weekly/monthly basis, there isn’t always enough new info to cover. However, since last we spoke there has been some incredible progress made with this project. We have officially locked in the core mechanics of the game and now that we have our flavor of ice cream figured out, we are testing to see what is the correct mix of toppings that we can add that will make this a delectable treat that you will want to share with your friends and family for dessert every night (I won’t count the calories if you don’t). Unit Cards Let's discuss what has changed about unit cards (previously called legacy cards). We were not in love with the old name considering there is an enti...

Hello and Happy March Gamers! Welcome to the beginning of the end of winter. With it comes rain, dressing for every season but the one that is currently outside, and good ol’ game design. And welcome back to another wonderful edition of updates from our team to you.  How have you been? What’s new? What brings you by? We hope you are hungry for more of our content and as excited for this next chapter in our story.  Yes, yes, the title explains it all... So to further elaborate… We have completed our 3rd internal playtest of Project: Hexed over Tabletop Simulator! Fair warning this may be a tad bit dense so be sure to grab a snack, a drink, and your favorite jammies while we tuck you in and tell you this fabulous bedtime story… but first. QUICK SHOUT OUT!! Developer's Diary: Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Gamers!! This winter has been a very prosperous one in the Pacific Northwest, one with bountiful snow and logistical nightmares for every business. While times have been tough, I am hoping that everyone of you had a holiday season worth remembering. It’s been a minute since I have checked in, so let's catch up a little on the game. What are our current objectives? Well initially, it was to be 100% playtestable by the end of December. That being said, we have played the game a few times since the beginning of September. Each time we have discovered new areas that we want to target for improvement. So we hit our goal, but we aren’t happy with the current state of the game. For those that are not aware of how the game plays... ...think of Project Hexed like an RTS (Real Time Strategy) video game, where you control a tribe of humanoids with different capabilities. More or less, this is an army control game that has a heavy focus on combat. That being said, your main f...

Welcome Back Gamers! Our playtest board with temp art and temp meeples! Welcome back to another marvelous blog post by yours truly, with some behind-the-scenes work by Brett! This post will (hopefully) be a quick rundown of our latest playtest from this last weekend. Stick around for a brief sneak peek at our round mechanics, and how we're working in a very unique objective. To spice things up, we'll even foreshadow a few changes we're implementing that could show up in our next blog post! Quickly, I would like to provide a quick rundown of the dynamics of our game as well as mention the main objective. This board game is going to be focused around developing your tribe (growing from Warriors > Rangers > Elders) through resource gathering based on semi-random map generation, upgrading skills bought from a shared player deck, and fighting off the enemy tribes through dice-based combat. The main objective of the game is to transport one of your Elders across the ba...
